About Us

Sri Gayathri Mahasamsthan {Devapuri}

Sri Gayathri Temple, located in Gayathri Layout, Krishnarajapura, Bangalore, has a unique & spiritual origin. Swamiji, while searching for a suitable location for the temple, faced several disappointments. However, during a visit to Krishnarajapura, he witnessed a significant & auspicious sight—three Garudas & a snake—signifying a place of tranquility & divine presence. This led him to believe that the land was ideal for the temple’s construction, symbolizing Niravairatva (a state of perfect peace or freedom).

In 1992, Swamiji performed the Bhoomi Pooja (ground-breaking ceremony), & the temple was subsequently constructed in the Dravidian architectural style. The temple has since become a place of spiritual importance, attracting devotees seeking blessings & peace.

Additionally, Ekachandi, Navachandi, & Shatachandi Yagas are regularly performed to invoke the presence of the Goddess & to seek her blessings, bringing divine power & grace to the temple & its devotees. These rituals help maintain a continuous spiritual atmosphere, attracting worshippers from far & wide to seek the blessings of the Goddess Gayathri.

Our Services

The rich symbolism of the location and the temple’s design has made it a cherished spiritual landmark in Bangalore.

  • Magha Shuddha Panchami, 1994: The temple witnessed the Sthapanam (installation) & Kumbhabhishek (consecration) ceremonies, a crucial step in dedicating the temple & its deities to the divine.
  • 1998: The temple underwent another major event with the Sahasra Kalashabhishek & the Laksha Gayatri Yagava, which are large-scale rituals involving the worship of the Goddess Gayathri with a thousand & a hundred thousand pots, respectively. These events were deeply significant for the temple's growth & spiritual energy.
  • 2006:A Rajagopuram (magnificent tower) was constructed at the temple, marking a significant architectural enhancement. The Mahakumbhabhishek (grand consecration) followed, further solidifying the temple's sanctity.

Since these pivotal events, the temple has continued to thrive with daily worship of the Goddess. Various important festivals and rituals are celebrated with devotion, including:

  • Brahmarathotsava in Vaishakh (a chariot procession festival).
  • Chandi Homa (a powerful fire ritual).
  • Sharanavaratri Mahotsava (the grand festival during Navaratri, dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga).
  • Shankhabhisekav (ritual worship with conch shells).
  • Dhanurmasa Puja (observed in the month of Dhanur, typically involving early morning prayers and rituals).
  • Varshabhiseka in Maghamasa (annual ritual during the Magha month).
